Virtual reality videos for educating outpatients for bowel preparation before colonoscopy

Adequate bowel preparation is essential for diagnostic, screening, and surveillance colonoscopy. A prospective randomized study at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (Beijing, China) found that patients who received virtual reality video education plus conventional education before colonoscopy had better bowel preparation, higher polyp and adenoma detection rates, and improved compliance and satisfaction, compared with patients receiving conventional education only.
