Venetoclax plus FLAG-IDA induction and consolidation for ND-AML and R/R-AML
Dr. Courtney DiNardo
Sixty percent of patients with newly diagnosed (ND)-AML receiving frontline therapy attain a complete response, yet 30% to 40% of patients relapse. Patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R)-AML have a poor prognosis. A phase 1b-2 study at MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX) found that the combination of the BCL-2 inhibitor venetoclax with standard FLAG-IDA was an effective intensive treatment regimen for ND-AML and R/R-AML. The treatment resulted in deep remissions and a high rate of transition to successful transplantation.
