Tumor mutation burden as predictive biomarker for response to immune checkpoint blockade
Dr. Shiaw-Yih Lin
Analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas (over 10,000 patient tumors; 31 cancer types) found that high TMB was predictive of response to immune checkpoint blockade only in cancer types where CD8 T-cell levels positively correlated with neoantigen load, such as melanoma, lung, and bladder cancers; and not in cancer types without this correlation, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, and glioma.
