From 2010 onwards, treatment of non-small cell lung cancer has been revolutionized with development of molecular testing and targetet therapy. It is not clear whether these improvements have reached clinical practice. Analysis among NSCLC patients at Samsung Medical Center (Seoul, South Korea) found improved 3-year survival in 2016 to 2020 when compared with 2010 to 2015. The improvement was seen across all stages, with larger improvement among patients with stage III and IV disease. Patients in 2016 to 2020 were more likely to undergo molecular tests. The authors conclude that these results may reflect changes in survival outcomes for NSCLC patients in clinical practice.
