Systematic review and meta-analysis of global stage distribution of breast cancer at diagnosis
Dr. Isabelle Soerjomataram
Stage at diagnosis of breast cancer is a key prognostic factor for survival. Systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies, with 2.4 million women with breast cancer, compared population-based stage distribution across 81 countries. The analysis found disparities in stage at diagnoses across regions and countries, with higher proportions of metastatic and unknown stage disease observed in low-and middle-income countries, lower socioeconomic status, and older age groups.
