A study in Israel investigates efficacy, immunogenicity, and safety of the BNT162b2 vaccine among patients undergoing active treatment for solid tumors, with health care workers as controls. Six months after the second vaccination 79% of the patients compared to 84% of the controls were seropositive (p=0.32). Serology titer dramatically decreased in both cohorts. No COVID-19 cases were documented among controls, while one case occurred in the patient cohort. All previously reported adverse effects resolved. The authors conclude that the pattern of immunogenicity, efficacy, and safety of BNT162b2 in patients with solid tumors at 6 months post-vaccination resemble what is seen in the general population.
