Single-center study of pelvic exenteration for advanced gynecologic malignancies
Prof. Mustafa Zelal Muallem
Retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database of patients with advanced primary and recurrent gynecological malignancies at Charité Medical University (Berlin, Germany) found that pelvic exenteration is a viable option for selected patients. Median disease-free survival and overall survival were 8.2 months and 16.4 months, respectively. Multivariate analysis identified R1 resection status and para-aortic lymph node involvement as independent negative prognostic factors.
