A retrospective study at Guangdong Sanjiu Brain Hospital evaluated addition of local cranial radiation (LCR) to third-generation TKIs for patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC with brain metastases(BM). The study included 93 patients with leptomeningeal disease (LM); 60 who received only third-generation TKIs between the BM-diagnosis and the LM-diagnosis, and 33 who received LCR plus TKIs. Both before (panel A) and after (panel B) propensity score matching the LM-disease-free survival was longer in the LCR+TKI group than in the TKI-only group. The authors conclude that addition of LCR to third-generation TKI therapy improved LM-DFS.
