Dr. Rahul Sheth
A retrospective study at MD Anderson Cancer Center investigated safety and efficacy of percutaneous image-guided ablation for soft tissue sarcoma metastases to the liver. Complete response at 2 months was achieved in 90.5% of the treated lesions. Local tumor progression-free survival was 80% at 2 years. Liver-specific progression-free survival was 40% at 2 years, while overall survival was 94% at 2 years. Two of 55 patients had complications. The authors conclude that percutaneous image-guided liver ablation of soft tissue sarcoma metastases is safe and efficacious.
