A retrospective real-world study at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center evaluated addition of trilaciclib (T) to carboplatin, etoposide and atezolizumab (PEA) for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Between 2020 and 2022 34 ES-SCLC patients received PEAT and 44 patients received PEA. There were no significant differences between the groups for progression-free survival or overall survival. In multivariate analysis, PEAT versus PEA was associated with improved severe neutropenia, anemia, red blood cell transfusions, and thrombocytopenia. The authors conclude that addition of T to PEA for ES-SCLC was associated with improvement in safety profile without compromising survival outcomes.
