Single-center phase 2 trial of second-line camrelizumab plus apatinib and irinotecan for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

A phase 2 trial at the University of Science and Technology of China (Hefei) evaluated the combination of camrelizumab plus apatinib and irinotecan as second-line treatment for advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The objective response rate and disease control rate were 37.7% and 84.9%, respectively. The median progression-free survival and overall survival were 6.3 months and 16.7 months, respectively. Most adverse events were grade 1 or 2; the incidence of grade 3 or 4 AEs was 20.3%. The authors conclude that the regime of camrelizumab, afatinib, and irinotecan had acceptable efficacy and safety as second-line therapy for A/M ESCC.
