A phase 2 trial at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital (Tianjin, China) evaluated the combination of toripalimab (anti-PD-1) and concurrent platinum-based chemoradiotherapy, followed by toripalimab maintenance, for patients with previously untreated locally advanced cervical cancer. The objective response rate was 87.8%. During median 21 months follow-up (range 5.2-44.5) median progression-free survival and overall survival were not reached. Treatment-related adverse events were seen in 45% of patients; grade ≥ 3 TRAEs were seen in 20.7%. The authors conclude that toripalimab in combination with concurrent platinum-based chemoradiotherapy followed by toripalimab maintenance had promising antitumor activity and acceptable safety in patients with previously untreated locally advanced cervical cancer.
