Single-center phase 2 trial of durvalumab, doxorubine, and ifosfamide for recurrent/metastatic pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma
Prof. Bhumsuk Keam
Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinomas (PSCs) are aggressive tumors with a poor prognosis. A phase 2 trial at Seoul National University (South Korea) evaluated the combination of durvalumab with doxorubicin and ifosfamide for recurrent or metastatic PSC. The objective response rate (primary endpoint) was 35.0% (95% CI17.7-55.8), the median duration of response was 5.3 months (1.7-NE), the median progression-free survival was 4.8 months (2.0-6.5), and the median overall survival was 9.4 months (5.5-26.8). Adverse events occurred in 95% of patients, with serious AEs in 50%. The authors conclude that the combination of durvalumab with doxorubicin and ifosfamide had activity for recurrent or metastatic PSC.
