Single-center phase 2 trial of camrelizumab plus apatinib for advanced mucosal melanoma

A phase 2 trial at Nanjing University (China) evaluated the combination of camrelizumab (anti-PD-1) and apatinib (antiangiogenic VEGFR TKI) for unresectable or recurrent/metastatic mucosal melanoma. The trial included 16 treatment-naïve patients and 16 patients who previously received systemic therapy. Primary endpoint was objective response. The confirmed ORR was 42.9%, both among treatment-naïve patients and previously treated patients, whereas the disease control rate was 82.1%. The median progression-free survival and overall survival were 8.05 months (95% CI 6.05-NR) and 14.19 (11.53-NR), respectively. The median PFS was 11.89 months among the treatment-naïve patients and 6.47 among previously treated patients. The treatment was well-tolerated without grade 5 TRAEs. The authors conclude that the combination of camrelizumab and apatinib had acceptable safety and promising activity among patients with advanced mucosal melanoma.
