Single-center phase 1b study of nivolumab plus stereotactic radiosurgery for breast cancer brain metastases
Dr. Kamran Ahmed
A phase 1b trial at Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, FL) evaluated the combination of nivolumab and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for patients with brain metastases from breast cancer (BCBM). The 12-months local control was 94%, while the median distant intracranial control and overall survival were 7.4 months and 24.7 months, respectively. Most patients were noted to have an increase in cell-free DNA throughout study treatment. There were no cases of radionecrosis. The authors conclude that the combination of nivolumab and SRS is a safe and feasible treatment option in BCBM.
