SBRT plus pembrolizumab and trametinib for locally recurrent pancreatic cancer after surgery

A study in Shanghai (China) randomized patients with locally recurrent PDAC after surgical resection to SBRT plus pembrolizumab and trametinib versus SBRT plus gemcitabine. The median overall survival was 24.9 months with SBRT-pembrolizumab-trametinib versus 22.4 months with SBRT-gemcitabine (HR 0.60; p=0.0012). Serious adverse events were reported by 22% versus 14%. No treatment-related deaths occurred. The authors conclude that SBRT plus pembrolizumab and trametinib could be a novel treatment option for patients with locally recurrent pancreatic cancer after surgery.
