Safety of stereotactic body radiotherapy for patients with multiple metastases
Dr. Steve Chmura
Stereotactic body radiotherapy for oligometastases is hypothesized to improve survival and is increasingly used. The multicenter NRG-BR001 phase 1 trial evaluated safety of SBRT in patients with 3 or 4 metastases or 2 metastases in close proximity to each other (≤5 cm). The study included patients with oligometastatic breast, prostate, or non-small cell lung cancer. Standard doses werd safe in all 35 evaluable patients. More than 50% of patients were alive at 2 years.
