Sacituzumab govitecan for metastatic triple-negative breast cancer
Dr. Aditya Bardia
Patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer have a poor prognosis. The multinational phase 3 study ASCENT compared the antibody-drug conjugate sacituzumab govitecan to single-agent chemotherapy of the physician’s choice (eribulin, vinorelbine, capecitabine, or gemcitabine) for mTNBC previously treated with taxanes. The median progression-free survival was 5.6 months with SG versus 1.7 months with chemotherapy (HR 0.41; p<0.001) and the median overall survival was 12.1 months with SG versus 6.7 months with chemotherapy (HR 0.48; p<0.001). Myelosuppression and diarrhea were more frequent with SG.
