Pooled analysis of 25 randomized clinical trials including 9225 individuals investigated the risk of malignant neoplasms with ixekizumab (IXE) treatment for psoriasis (PsO), psoriatric arthritis (PsA), or axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). The incidence rates of malignant neoplasms were 0.8, 0.7, and 0.4 per patient-year, respectively for patients with PsO, PsA, or axSpA, who received at least one dose of IXE over five years (PsO) or 3 years (PsA and axPSA). The observed incidences of malignant neoplasms (excluding nonmelanoma skin cancer) were consistent with the US general population. The authors conclude that regarding malignant neoplasms, the safety profile of IXE is consistent with background cancer rates in the US general population, supporting long-term use in patients with PsO, PsA, or axSpA.
