Cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS-HIPEC) is a treatment option for selected patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases (CPM). A study at Erasmus MC (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) investigated treatments and survival outcomes of patients deemed ineligible for CRS-HIPEC, mainly (42%) because of extensive CPM. The majority (73%) of the patients received systemic therapy. Median overall survival was 17 months (IQR 9-25). Among patients receiving best supportive care, median OS was 4 months (IQR 2-9). Patients deemed ineligible due to extraperitoneal metastases had better survival outcomes than patients deemed ineligible due to extensive peritoneal metastases or distant lymph node metastases.
