Retrospective study of real-world outcomes with second-line cabozantinib for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma

Cabozantinib is indicated for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (aHCC) followung first-line sorafenib but the first-line standard has shifted to immuno-oncology (IO)-based regimens. A retrospective US claims analysis evaluated real-world outcomes with second-line cabozantinib after various first-line regimens. The real-world time to treatment discontinuation with second-line cabozantinib was 3.2 months, the real-world time to next treatment or death was 7.6 months, and the real-world overall survival rate at 12 months was 61.6%, without significant differences between groups who received various first-line therapies. The authors conclude that cabozantinib showed consistent effectiveness in the second-line aHCC setting in real-world practice.
