A retrospective study at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany) evaluated incidence and outcomes of de novo renal cell carcinoma (RCC) among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs), compared with propensity score matched RCC patients who did not receive a kidney transplant. The RCC incidence among the KTRs was 0.64 per 1000 person-years, with a standard incidence ratio versus the non-KTRs of 4.40 (95% CI 3.33-5.80). Among patients with localized stage RCC, the overall survival and metastasis-free survival were not significantly different between the KTR group and the non-KTR group.
