Retrospective study of clinical presentation and outcome of liposarcoma in France
Prof. Jean-Yves Blay
Liposarcomas (LPS) are among the most common sarcomas, but gather a diversity of histotypes whose presentations and natural histories are only partially characterized. Retrospective analysis of the French NETSARC+ registry included 11,132 LPS patients since 2010 (incidence 11.5/106/year. The authors describe incidence, clinical presentation, management, and outcome of the various LPS histotypes. There is an interaction between sex and age for the incidence of dedifferentiated LPS and myxoid LPS, with lower incidence in women after age 50 years, suggesting that menopause and sex hormones may influence the biology of these sarcomas.
