Retrospective study of chronic opioid use and related outcomes among adolescent and young adult cancer survivors after cancer treatment
Prof. Chun Chao
A retrospective study by Kaiser Permanente Southern California (Pasadena) found that at least two-year survivors of AYA cancer, compared with matched noncancer individuals, had higher incidence of long-term high dose opioid use, benzodiazepine co-use, and opioid-related hospitalization. Opioid use during cancer treatment phase most strongly predicted long-term high dose use and opioid use disorder/overdose during survivorship.
