Retrospective study of atezolizumab plus chemotherapy for transformed small-cell lung cancer

Transformed small-cell lung cancer (T-SCLC) has an extremely poor prognosis, and no remedies based on immunotherapy for T-SCLC have been evaluated. A retrospective study at Guangdong Lung Cancer Institute (Guangzhou, China) evaluated the efficacy and safety of combining atezolizumab and chemotherapy for T-SCLC. The study found that the combination of atezolizumab with chemotherapy with or without bevacizumab was safe and associated with longer survival compared with patients not receiving PD-L1 inhibitor-based combination therapy.
