Retrospective cohort study of treatments and outcomes after platinum-based chemotherapy and anti-PD-(L)1 for advanced/metastatic NSCLC

Effective treatments for advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (a/m NSCLC) are limited. A retrospective cohort study using data from 2018 to 2023 from a US nationwide, electronic health record-derived database investigated treatments and outcomes after platinum-based chemotherapy and anti-PD-(L)1 for a/m NSCLC. In this study of 1793 patients receiving various treatments, median time to treatment discontinuation was 4 months, median progression-free survival was 5 months, and median overall survival was 11 months. Medians were shortest in those treated with index chemotherapy monotherapy. The authors conclude that these results underscore the need for effective treatment strategies in patients with a/m NSCLC.
