Retrospective cohort study of tenofovir versus entecavir after curative resection of HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma
Prof. Gang Huang
Tenofovir disoproxil (TDF) and entecavir (ETV) are both commonly used first-line antiviral treatments after resection with curative intent of HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A retrospective cohort study at Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital (Shanghai, China) compared impact of TDF versus ETV on recurrence-free survival and overall survival after resection. In this study of 4451 patients, TDF was assocatiated with significantly better recurrence-free and overall survival
compared with ETV. The authors conclude that TDF could be considered the preferred antiviral treatment after surgery for HBV-related HCC.
