Retrospective analysis of EGFR inhibition for metastatic or unresectable EGFR-amplified gastroesophageal cancer
Dr. Steven Maron
There is an unmet need for effective therapies for patients with EGFR-amplified gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA). A retrospective multinational analysis of 60 patients with metastatic or unresectable EGFR-amplified GEA evaluated EGFR-inhibition (EGFRi). Median overall survival with first-line EGFRi was 20.6 months (95% CI 13.5-NR), compared with 11.2 months (95% CI 8.7-14.2) with first-line non-EGFR1 therapy in a control database cohort. The authors conclude that patients with EGFR-amplified GEA derived significant benefit from EGFRi.
