Response to a third dose of BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine in patients undergoing active treatment for solid tumors
Dr. Albert Grinshpun
While manifestations of COVID-19 are heterogeneous, patients with solid tumors undergoing active treatment are at considerable risk for worse outcomes. A study in Israel found that in patients undergoing active treatment for solid tumors, a third dose of the BNT162b mRNA vaccine resulted in significant increases of the levels of antibodies to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. Most patients had excellent levels (at least 400 AU/ml in 84%).
