Recurrence of colorectal neoplastich polyps after incomplete resection
Prof. Heiko Pohl
Incomplete resection of neoplastic polyps may be a risk factor for recurrence. Follow-up of the CARE study (Complete Adenoma REsection; 2009 to 2012) found that after documented incomplete resection of colorectal neoplastic polyps the risk for metachronous neoplasia was greater than after complete resection (p=0.004). Incompletely resected colon segments also had a greater number of neoplastic polyps (p=0.008) and greater risk of advanced neoplasia (p=0.034) compared with completely resected segments.
