In the phase 3 SUNLIGHT trial, trifluridine-tipiracil plus bevacizumab (FTD-TPI+ bev) improved the overall survival of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) compared with FTD-TPI monotherapy. Real-world outcomes with FTD-TPI+bev versus FTD-TPI for mCRC have now been published. In the ConcertAI RWD360 dataset the authors identified 3151 mCRC patients with first exposure to FTD-TPI and 529 patients with first-exposure to FTD-TPI+bev. After propensity score matching, 472 patients were included in each cohort with balanced patient characteristics. The median real-world overall survival was 8.9 months (95% CI 7.8-10.1) for FTD-TPI+bev versus 5.8 months (4.9-6.7) for FTD-TPI (p<0.001); the median real-world time to treatment discontinuation was 3.5 months (3.2-3.8) versus 2.2 months (1.9-2,5); the median real-world time to next treatment of death was 4.9 months (4.5-5.4) versus 3.5 months (3.1-3.7). The authors conclude that FTD-TPI+bev was associated with improved real-world outcomes compared with FTD-TPI in patients with mCRC.
