Real-world outcomes with lurbinectedin in second-line setting and beyond for extensive stage small cell lung cancer
Dr. Konstantinos Leventakos
Clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy and safety of lurbinectedin for relapsed small cell lung cancer (SCLC), but real-world data are limited. A retrospective study at the Mayo Clinic Health System evaluated second or later line lurbinectedin for extensive stage SCLC in the real world. Lurbinectedin was generally well tolerated, with a median overall survival of 5.1 months in the second-line cohort and 5.6 months in the third-line or later cohort. Adverse events were manageable. There were no treatment-related deaths. The authors conclude that lurbinectedin in the real world demonstrated modest efficacy and a comparable safety profile to that in clinical trials, regardless of line of therapy.
