Real-world experiences with idecabtagene vicleucel for relapsed or refractory multipel myeloma in France

Idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel), a CAR T-cell therapy targeting BCMA, received early access program authorization in France in April 2021 for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). The real-world observational FENIX trial at 11 French hospitals evaluated outcomes with ide-cel for RRMM. Among 159 patients receiving ide-cel, cytokine release syndrome in 90%, with 2% grade ≥ 3, and neurotoxicity occurred in 12% with 3% grade ≥ 3. Over the first 6 months, the best overall response and ≥ complete response were 88% and 47%, respectively. The median progression-free and overall survival were 12.5 months and 20.8 months, respectively. Patients with extramedullary disease had impaired PFS. The authors conclude that the study supports the use of ide-cel for RRMM.
