Real-world effectiveness of HPV vaccination against cervical cancer
Prof. Susanne Kjær
A study in Denmark investigated real-world effectiveness of HPV vaccination against cervical cancer. For women vaccinated before the age of 17 years the IRR of cervical cancer compared to unvaccinated women was 0.14 (95% CI 0.04-0.53) and for women vaccinated before the age of 20 years the IRR was 0.32 (95% CI 0.08-1.28). For women vaccinated at ages 20 to 30 years the IRR was 1.19 (95% CI 0.80-1.79). The authors conclude that vaccination at early age is important.
