Randomized trial of addition of apatinib to pegylated liposomal doxorubicin for platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer
Prof. Ning Li
There are substantial unmet therapeutic needs in patients with platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer (PROC), and novel therapeutic strategies should be explored. The randomized APPROVE trial in eleven centers in China found that addition of apatinib to pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) for platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer resulted in significant improvement of PFS with manageable toxic effects. The authors conclude that apatinib plus PLD may be a new alternative treatment option for PROC.
