Randomized study of artificial intelligence-supported screen reading versus standard double reading in mammography
Dr. Kristina Lång
Analysis of the cancer detection rate in the Mammography Screening with Artificial Intelligence (MASAI) trial at four screening centers in Sweden found that AI-upported mammograpy screening resulted in a similar cancer detection rate compared with standard double reading (6.1 versus 5.1 per 1000 screened participants), with a substantially lower screen-reading workload. The authors conclude that the use of AI in mammography screening is safe. Participants are being followed for the primary end point of interval cancer rate in 100,000 participants after 2 years of follow-up.
