Patients with refractory metastatic pancreatic cancer (mPC) have a poor prognosis. The randomized phase 2 CheckPAC trial at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) evaluated the combination of 15 Gy SBRT and nivolumab with or without ipilimumab for refractory mPC. Clinical benefit rate was 17.1% with SBRT-nivolumab and 37.2% with SBRT-nivolumab-ipilimumab. The safety was acceptable. The authors conclude that SBRT-nivolumab-ipilimumab had clinically meaningful antitumor activity in patients with otherwise refractory mPC.
