Randomized phase 2 study of MRD-guided stop and start of venetoclax-ibrutinib for relapsed or refractory CLL

Targeted time-limited treatment options are needed for patients with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (R/R CLL). The randomized phase 2 HOVON141/VISION trial in six European countries evaluated minimal residual disease (MRD)-guided, time-limited ibrutinib plus venetoclax for R/R CLL. The study found a favorable benefit-risk profile of this strategy, suggesting that MRD-guided cessation and reinitiation is feasible in this patient population.
