Race, ethnicity and risk of second primary contralateral breast cancer
Dr. Gordon Watt
Analysis of the SEER database (2000-2015) found second primary contralateral invasive breast cancer after median 5.9 years follow-up in 2.0% of patients with a first BC. Relative to NHW women the risk of CBC was increased in NHB women (HR 1.44; 95% CI 1.35-1.55) and Hispanic women (1.11; 1.02-1.20). The associations were not explained by contralateral prophylactic mastectomy, socioeconomic status, and health insurance.
