Quality of life with addition of cemiplimab to first-line chemotherapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer

The multicenter phase 3 EMPOWER-Lung 3 trial randomized patients with previously untreated advanced non-small cell lung cancer (no known EGFR, ALK, or ROS1 alterations) to cemiplimab plus chemotherapy or placebo plus chemotherapy. Last year, a significant overall survival benefit was published in the cemiplimab group. Quality of life analyses of the study have now been published. Addition of cemiplimab to chemotherapy resulted in signifcant overall improvement in pain symptoms and delayed time to definitive clinically meaningful deterioration in cancer-related and lung cancer-specific symptoms and functioning.
