A prospective randomized trial in the USA, Australia, and New Zealand evaluated addition of docetaxel to androgen deprivation therapy and radiation for nonmetastatic unfavorable-risk prostate cancer. Addition of docetaxel did not significantly prolong overall survival (p=0,22), but was associated with significantly lower frequency of RT-induced cancers (0.61% versus 4.90% at ten years; age-adjusted HR 0.13; p=0.046). Among men with baseline PSA < 4 ng/ml the PC-specific mortality was 0.00% in the docetaxel group versus 28.57% in the control group.
