Prospective study of circulating protein biomarkers for colorectal cancer risk

Proteomics-based technologies are emerging tools for cancer biomarker discovery. A case-control proteomics study nested in the prospective Shanghai Women’s Health Study identified circulating protein biomarkers associated with risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC). The authors conclude that these findings provide novel insights into the etiology of CRC and may facilitate CRC risk assesment.
