Prospective cohort study of association between genetic risk, healthy lifestyle, and thyroid cancer risk
Prof. Xiaobo Yang
The incidence of thyroid cancer (TC) has increased by approximately 10% annually over the past 30 years. A prospective cohort study using UK Biobank data investigated the association between genetic risk, adherence to a healthy lifestyle, and TC risk. The study found that genetic and lifestyle factors were independently associated with incident TC, which suggests that a healthier lifestyle may attenuate the deleterious influence of genetics on the risk of TC in individuals of European descent.
