Propensity score matching study of chemotherapy for ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence

The benefit of chemotherapy in patients with ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence (IBTR) is not clear. A retrospective study at Asan Medical Center (Seoul, South Korea) evaluated chemotherapy for IBTR. After propensity score matching there were no significant differences between the chemotherapy group and the no-chemotherapy group in ten-year rates for second recurrence-free survival, distant metastasis-free survival, and overal survival. Analyses stratified by hormone receptor status showed similar findings.
