The multinational JAVELIN Lung 200 phase 3 trial randomized patients with stage IIIB/IV or recurrent NSCLC with disease progression following platinum-doublet chemotherapy 1:1 to avelumab 10 mg/kg every 2 weeks or docetaxel 75 mg/m2 every 3 weeks. The primary analysis of the study found no significantly prolonged overall survival with avelumab versus docetaxel. Post-hoc analysis at 2 years of follow-up has now been published. Two-year OS rates were doubled with avelumab versus docetaxel in subgroups with PD-L1 expression ≥ 50% (36.4% versus 17.7%) and PD-L1 expression ≥ 80% (40.2% versus 20.3%). Median duration of response was 19.1 months versus 5.7 months.
