Post-hoc analysis of impact of patient age on outcomes with addition of apalutamide to ADT for advanced prostate cancer

Addition of apalutamide to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) improved outcomes with maintained HROQL in metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) and non-metastich castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) in the phase 3 randomized TITAN and SPARTAN studies, respectively. Post-hoc analysis of the studies investigated the impact of patient age on the outcomes. Age had no impact on radiographic progression-free survival and metastasis-free survival, overall survival, or HRQOL. Apalutamide was well-tolerated with a potential trend in rates of adverse events increasing with age. The authors conclude that apalutamide plus ADT was an effective and well-tolerated option maintaining HRQOL in patients with mCSPC and nmCRPC regardless of age.
