Population-based study of risk of early death in adolescents and young adults with cancer
Dr. Michael Roth
Advancements in treatment and supportive care have led to improved survival among adolescents and young adults (AYAs; 15-39 years of age) with cancer. However, a subset remains at risk for early death (within two months of diagnosis). Analysis of the SEER database (2000-2016) found that not only cancer type but also sociodemographic factors, like socioeconomic and insurance status, affect risk of early death in AYAs with cancer.
