Population-based study of prevalence and prognosis of diabetes mellitus in long-term survivors of colorectal, breast, or prostate cancer
Keyi Yang
A population-based study in Germany found that among long-term cancer survivors (LTCS) 13% had diabetes mellitus (DM), not higher than the prevalence among population controls. Higher age, lower education, lower household income. Higher socioeconomic deprivation, higher BMI, physical inactivity and smoking were associated with DM in LTCS at baseline and/or during follow-up. DM in LTCS is associated with elevated risk of all-cause mortality (aHR 1.29; 95% CI 1.15-1.44).
