A population-based cohort study in Ontario (Canada) evaluated cardiovascular risk associated with use of ibrutinib for CLL. The study included 778 ibrutinib treated patients and 778 matched patients who were not exposed to ibrutinib. The three-year incidence of atrial fibrillation-related health care contact was 22.7% versus 11.7%; the three-year risk of hospital-diagnosed bleeding was 8.8% versus 3.1%; and the three-year risk of heart failure was 7.7% versus 3.6%. There were no significant differences between the groups for the endpoints stroke and acute myocardial infarction.
