Phase 3 trial of hepatic arterial chemotherapy infusion versus sorafenib for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma
Interventional hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy of fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin (HAIC-FO) had an acceptable safety profile and antitumor activity in a previous phase 2 trial among patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (aHCC). The phase 3 FOHAIC-1 trial at Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou, China) compared HAIC-FO versus sorafenib in patients with aHCC. HAIC-FO achieved better survival outcomes than sorafenib, even among patients with high intrahepatic disease burden.
